Hyundai HYM3300E Electric Lawnmower Review: Stay Green While Keeping Your Lawn Sharp

The Hyundai HYM3300E at a Glance

The Hyundai HYM3300E is a lightweight and easy-to-use corded electric lawnmower that is ideal for small to medium sized yards. It uses a 1200 Watt motor, which should be plenty of power for most everyday scenarios, and the 33cm cutting width is reasonable, considering the size and weight of the mower. While it’s a fairly basic, cost-effective mower, there are a few nice little extras, which are uncommon in other lawnmowers of its class. Let’s take a look at some of the standout features on offer.

Stand-Out Features of the Hyundai HYM3300E

Lightweight

At 9kg, this little mower is impressively one of the lightest in its class. This makes it ideal if you need to manoeuvre around tight spaces or move between different levels in your garden. For example, if you needed to lift it up or down a few steps, then this should be fairly easy to do for most people. It also means that the HYM3300E will be easy to retrieve and store away.

Eco-friendly mulching feature

This mower comes with a handy mulching feature, which is great if you’re looking for an eco-friendly option. This means that the grass clippings are finely chopped and spread back over your lawn as natural fertilizer, which then also saves you the hassle of disposing of them yourself. To use this feature, you simply need to attach the included mulching plug before use, and then mow your lawn as usual.

Rear Roller

If you’re after that quintessential English striped lawn, then you can achieve the look with this mower – thanks to its rear roller. This is a feature usually reserved for larger mowers or manual cylinder mowers, so it’s a nice touch to see this added within a lightweight and cost-effective model.

Cutting Width

The HYM3300E has a 33cm cutting width, which is about average for its class. It’s small enough to get around most small to medium lawns and Hyundai recommends its use for an area up to 144sq. metres (12m x12m).

Cutting Height

There are three cutting heights on offer, between 20cm to 60cm. This may not seem like many settings when compared to other more expensive models, and the 60cm setting might not be all that effective when tackling very long grass that’s been left for a long time. However, for most purposes this is plenty and 20cm is certainly low enough for a nice neat finish.

Extra-Reach 10m Power Cable

One of the drawbacks of using a corded mower is the need to use extension cables, but you may find this is less of an issue here, as the HYM3300E comes with an extra long 10-metre power cord.

30L Grass Box

A larger grass box means fewer trips to the compost pile to empty it while mowing. While 30L is about the size you’d expect for a mower of this class and should be fine for small to medium gardens. As mentioned earlier, there is also a great mulching feature which negates the need for emptying, as it will spread the clippings around the lawn during mowing.

3-Year Hyundai Warranty

It’s reassuring to know that Hyundai offers this extended warranty as standard, and just demonstrates how much confidence they have in the reliability of their products. This gives you peace of mind, with a very generous two years beyond the standard 12-month manufacturer’s warranty offered by most brands.

Customer Ratings

In general, the HYM3300E seems to be well regarded and is noted for its ease of use – being lightweight, highly manoeuvrable and easy to assemble and store away. Here’s what customers are saying…

Should You Buy the Hyundai HYM3300E?

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use, lightweight mower, then the Hyundai HYM3300E is pretty hard to beat for the price. It’s perhaps a little more expensive than some of its rivals, but this is perhaps justified by the extended 3-year warranty, the ultra-lightweight and the extra little touches, such as the mulching feature.

If you have a small to medium size lawn and don’t anticipate needing to mow anywhere that’s particularly challenging or overgrown, then this little mower should have ample power and capacity. If mulching or having a stripy lawn is important to you, then these are great features to have at such a low price point.

When weighing up on whether to buy this mower, you might like to check out the competition. At the time of writing this review, some of this model’s closest rivals are the Bosch Rotak 34R and the Flymo Chevron 32V.
